How a booking works
Each key is a queue of non-overlapping time slots. You pick a key, set the destination URL, choose a duration, and optionally add color, custom text, a background image, a click sound, or a press effect. Checkout holds the next free window, payment activates it, and the key starts redirecting when the slot begins.
While the slot is live, a press or click opens your link in a new tab and increments the public click count. When the window ends, the redirect stops automatically. If someone else already holds the key, you still book — you get the next open window, not a collision.
Demand-based pricing
Hourly rates start under one dollar and rise with cumulative booked hours on that key. Prestige multipliers make Esc, Space, and Enter more expensive than letters or punctuation. The buy page for a key is the source of truth for the current rate; do not invent a price from memory.
Add-ons are priced separately in checkout. Confirmation and expiry emails go to the address you provide. Click totals appear on the live board and in the expiry email so you can see whether the slot actually sent traffic.
What happens when someone presses the key
The public board is a real keyboard in the browser. Physical keys and clicks both count. If your slot is live, that press opens your URL in a new tab and the click counter on the board ticks up. If the key is idle, the press does nothing except invite someone to book it.
You can watch the live list under the keyboard for destination, time remaining, and click count. Trending and latest activity sit beside it so visitors see which keys are actually sending traffic. The leaderboard ranks keys by booked hours.
Customization and expiry
Optional add-ons change how the key looks and sounds: color, font, custom legend text, a background image, a click sound, and a press effect. Those extras are chosen at checkout and apply only for your window.
Slots expire on their own. You get a confirmation email when payment clears and a warning before the window ends. When the clock hits zero, the redirect stops and the next booking in the queue can go live. Support and privacy requests go to hello@rentaikey.com.
